Passing rotation
A common four-hand cycle passes left, right, across, then holds. Each player selects three cards before looking at the three received. Check the table rules, since the cycle can vary.
Choose cards together
Read the whole hand before choosing. A short suit can create a chance to discard penalties later, but received cards can restore that suit. High spades deserve care when you have few lower spades.
Reassess your hand
After receiving cards, recount suit lengths and identify high cards likely to win tricks. Change your plan when the new cards change your risks.
